Life on site in Bots

Life on site in Bots

Johan Otto, project manager at Karowe, describes life on site in rural Botswana as very different to the fast pace of Joburg. Instead of cars racing by, you’re more likely to see a family of warthogs marching past your front door, or curious kudu stopping by the office.

As the project site is a protected area with strict security, the wildlife is undisturbed and even the occasional lion has been spotted. Johan says that besides working in a wilderness area, he also enjoys working with the friendly, accommodating Botswana nationals who are enthusiastic about sharing their knowledge, but also keen to learn from the UMS team.
